ahhhh Another Test!!!!

Just when I thought I was free of exams, tests and assignments - I am forced to do another one!! This one takes place tomorrow at 3.30pm - and what is it for I hear you ask....It is to check whether or not I am capable of being British!! The fact that I like tea, teach Britain's children, can handle warm beer, understand cockney, cope with tube delays and no summer, speak read and write English and have lived here quite happily for some time now, etc etc, is of no value - I need to prove all of this by cramming information about geography, government, statistics and culture into my short term memory and reproduce it by answering multiple choice questions!

Follow these links and test yourself.....let me know - Are you capable of being British???

I passed!!! and i think i did pretty well - the only thing i wasn't sure of is if ultimate political power rests with
a)Judiciary
b)Queen
c) House of Commons
d)House of Lords

I don't think it is Judiciary or House of Lords....
Does anyone out there in blogland know?

To be British, you need to:

A. Embarrass easily.
B Quietly disdain Uncle Sam.
C. Keep one's skin white and 'pasty'.
D. Defend beaches with pebbles.

:)

Congratulations, by the way.

I think that the answer has to be The Queen, right?

If they used the word 'ultimate', then they couldn't have referred to any of the other three.

You know that after an election (of the people and for the people), the Prime Minster elect has to officially ask permission from the the Queen to form a government.

Crazy.

Where is Uncle Sam when you need a Revolution???

hi Justin,

not sure if i fully qualify???

A. I do embarrass rather easily.
B I feel sorry for uncle sam and would like to take him on a little tour of parts of the world that suffer greatly and make a few suggestions.
C. Keep one's skin white and 'pasty'....i have never had a problem with this - I don't even have to work at it.
D. Defend beaches with pebble....these beaches are really painful to walk on and even worse to lie down on - which in fact helps contribute to the white 'pastiness'..so may be a useful evolutionary feature of this country...

Hi Sharon,
When you got through the life in the UK test did you eventually apply for the British citizenship ? I am trying to compile some information on my blog about people who having obtained PR, opt out of British citizenship.
